Tango Mar is a wonderful resort hotel located on a long private beach with white sand, set in acres of private land and jungle. The service is exemplary and friendly, and the resort offers a number of swimming pools, golf course, tennis courts and walks in the grounds. It has a wet bar with a popular happy hour in the evening, and a great restaurant offering affordable but quality international and local cuisine. It provides a wonderful beach break in Costa Rica with luxury in a relatively small complex. Be aware that the relaxing isolation you find yourself in also means that you are not within walking distance of any town or facilities – but with everything on offer this is not a problem for a few day’s break. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Stay at Tango Mar
This little hotel has a fantastic location right on the oceanfront. All the rooms are facing the sea on a truly wild and unspoilt beach. There are beautiful grounds and nature trails to explore with monkeys, birds, and countless butterflies that should keep the most avid nature lover happy. Be sure to hike over to the waterfall and look out for scarlet macaws flying high with the vultures in the late afternoon. Also join Jesse the resident naturalist on a bird walk or go on a night walk with him to find tarantulas and other amazing insects-he knows where to find all the birds and insects in the grounds and in the surrounding forest.
Hilde is a personable owner and manager who makes a point of speaking to all her guests in the evenings. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.

Amazing Location and Fabulous Atmosphere
Tango mar is in a remote and secluded location right on the lovely sandy beach. The rooms are well appointed and the resort is very well managed by the owner who checks in with each table in turn every dinner time. All the staff are delightful and happy to help. The restaurant has an amazing open air feel. We saw three whales and a troop of capuchin monkeys without even getting off the pool lounger!

Beautiful, secluded resort with private beach
Lovely beachfront location with a gorgeous private beach. The waves are phenomenal (though limited swimming opportunities)! This is addressed by the lovely infinity swimming pool, although it’s a little small to do significant lengths in. We took in a trip to Isle Tortuga for snorkelling and swimming, which was lovely, especially as we saw a whale up close during the boat ride there. That said, we still saw whales from the beach at the resort, as well as the monkeys that come down to the outdoor restaurant each day at 3pm!
The staff were generally wonderful, Javier deserves particular praise for his warmth and attention towards our family during our stay.

Beautiful
From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by the beauty of the property and the friendly staff. The owner is friendly and hands-on, making certain every guest’s stay is excellent. It becomes evident quickly how this property won a 2018 Trip Advisor Award.
The property is well maintained, the rooms are very accommodating and clean with wonderful views. The staff work very hard at maintaining immaculately clean rooms, pools, dining areas, and the property at large.
This boutique hotel provides excellent amenities, reasonably priced activities and extras (snorkeling, tours by boat, massage and spa, etc). When you arrive, you are met by excellent staff with a lovely juice cocktail and helped to your room.
All the food that is made in house is by far some of the best cuisine I have had. All meals are served out in the fresh ocean air. Breakfast, Luncheon, and Dinner are varied daily depending on what is most fresh. Prior to ordering dinner, each guest is served an hors d’oeuvre that is varied daily (our favorite from out stay was a fried plantain with fresh ceviche).
We very much enjoyed drinks served pool-side in the very relaxing atmosphere the owner created!
The staff are friendly, very helpful (provide great advise for local attractions), and happy. You quickly can see the pride they have for Tango Mar.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Costa Rica. We hope to return soon, which will definitely include a say at Tango Mar.
