Blue Zones

In 2004, explorer Dan Buettner and a team of scientists went looking for the world’s longest-lived people. They discovered that in a few places, people not only live longer, but are also healthier.

They called these areas Blue Zones, and there are only five in the world: Okinawa (Japan), Sardinia (Italy), Icaria (Greece), Loma Linda (California, USA), and Nicoya in Costa Rica. What’s more, Nicoya is the largest blue zone in the world.

What makes for a better life, you wonder?

Buettner suggests that, aside from a favorable natural environment, it’s the Nicoyan way of life that especially helps: a strong sense of social belonging that puts family and community first, regular physical activity, a balanced diet, generosity, and a sense of humor about life.

Living in harmony with nature is easier away from the hustle and bustle of the country’s center. Taking life calmly, without stress.

Tango Mar is located in one of these five privileged areas on the planet. And it ensures that visitors can embrace this Nicoyan way of life during their stay. Believe me, it works.

The welcome, often delivered by the incomparable Hilde herself, owner and “mom” of Tango Mar, makes you feel ‘like family’ from the moment you arrive. The staff, both efficient and friendly, assures that everything is taken care of, there’s no need to stress. The menus, enjoyed next to the beach and under the trees filled with singing birds, are full of healthy dishes, with plenty of vegetables and fruits.

In the rooms, it’s impossible not to wake up eager and energized to start the new day. And on top of that, those who want can request a marvelous massage while enjoying the calming sound of the waves.

In short… Tango Mar is a Blue Zone within the Blue Zone. Don’t take my word for it. Come and find out for yourself.
